Thanked: 2Material for a pasted strop
I'm new to the straight razor world but having a blast so far. I had what might be a stupid question. I've noticed different materials being used for pasted strops. Some are leather, some are felt, and some are balsa. Any thoughts on what works best if the plan is a .5 micron diamond compound, maybe a .25 micron, and a chromium? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Leather, balsa, wool, there is no big difference. It's a personal taste's matter. (This question belongs to the strops section of the forum)

Thanked: 3After the 8K Norton the razor is usable. I then go with .5 Micon Diamond, CrOx and CeriumOx. I use them on Balsa wood. This sequence works for me. I have not experimented with other materials or methods
