Ok, do NOT do this please. The only time you should be bread knifing a razor on a DMT 325 grit is if you bought an old blade somewhere that had big chips in it. That is the ONLY time I would do this. You do not need to use a 325 on a dull razor, ever. You can cause a whole series of serious damage this way, including a split or crack from the edge to the spine (or somewhere in between) if you don't know what you're doing.

All you need to do is go to the 1K level and reset the bevel which may take about ten minutes at the most if your strokes are correct. Use back and forth strokes, X strokes, circles, etc. Water should move up the entire edge of the razor. Once you can shave arm hair at skin level, move to the 4K level and so on.

Have you honed a razor before?

Also why would you cut something with your straight razor?

I would kill the edge with a few strokes with the blade perpendicular to a 325. Then I would establish the bevel with a 325 & 1000. Finally I would hone with the 4000/8000.

In my opinion any short cut will just be a waste of time.
