    Default Unknown Hone

I know this looks like a Coticule, but I'm pretty sure it's not. It seems synthetic, but lapped fairly easy, it seems to hold water and feels harder with less feedback than a Coticule, it's size is 5" x 2" x 7/16"

I have three Coticules and this looks different (yellow and blue sides) than mine, any ideas?

Since no one's answered I'll venture a guess. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but from your description and the size it seems like a barber hone. The barber hone I have does not hold water like a normal waterstone would, but it will absorb water if you let it sit there for a minute. From what I hear most barber hones are very difficult to lap, but the one I have is not, so it must vary. Best way to tell will be to see how it behaves on a razor.

I'm wondering if it's a Frictionite hone, it seems a little thin compared to some pictures I've seen, unless it's been lapped a lot

The yellow side is very fine 8k+ I think. This hone absorbs water almost like a Norton and almost needs to soak. It's very different than my other Barber Hones in that respect
