I was watching that as well, I kept going back to look at the label. I thought it was very strange. Glad to know I'm not alone.

good catch brother...i gave up just about half way up that battle. figure i was just spending more then what i really needed it...let us know how turns out...if it had a tag and it fits the box...pretty sure its a quality hone..
like they say..if it quacks like a duck and it walks like a duck....
I can't say as to the label. I vaguely remember seeing one on the bay like that a couple of years ago but I just don't know. Good luck with it. Maybe Sham might know.
There was once an Escher in the classifieds in a similar box but without the SRD logo with a 4.5" x 1.2" x 0.5" stone and a 1.2" x 0.5" x 0,4" slurry stone. I might have seen the stone's label before as well. I'm sure there are plenty Escher labels which haven't been posted at SRP yet.
Can someone post the pics of the auction? That way when the link expires we still have the pics :)

Interesting, most boxed stones fit the box. You can more easily catch Sham over at http://www.razorandstone.com - The Front Page . Would love to hear what he has to say. EIther way, I hope it is a good finisher...that's the important part.
I found some pics of the label this one reminded me of.

I have genuine examples of both box and label (a later design, reminiscent of the Hohenzollern castle logo). Someone forging a label would choose one of the more common designs. What I do not believe however, is that box and stone originally belonged together. These boxes invariably fit their hones snugly (or only with some room to spare in length, to accomodate a rubber) and I know of no other example of this box with a labelled hone.
edit: Piet beat me to the Hohenzollern resemblance.
Very true that if someone were forging a label they would use the better known two that we are all familiar with. I had a couple of those Hohenzollern stones and maybe that is why the label on this stone looked familiar to me.
As I once told a friend, and fellow stone collector, you know you have a problem when you can spell Hohenzollern correctly from memory. :rofl2:
