Kiita Suita is a nonsense. These are 2 different stones from 2 different layers.

Tennen Toishi loosely translates to Natural Whetstone.

Uchigumori is a stone generally used in sword polishing not razors.

There are many Jnats that can follow an 8k synthetic however from your admitted lack of knowledge I would research a lot before buying & maybe rely on a trusted source rather than eBay.

Kiita is not a layer its a color like the Asagi color too

Yes. Kiita is not a layer it is the name of a yellowish stone from the Namito layer. To add that name to a Suita is somewhat misleading.

In Kyoto i have seen Kiita from Tenjyou layer from Tomae layer and so on
It is somewhat misleading to say that Kiita come only from Namito layer

Fair enough but I've never seen a Kiita on So's website that wasn't from Namito. In fact when I asked him specifically he said Kiita & Suita are not associated.

The point is the few guys here that use Kiita would associate them as being a razor finisher, most likely fairly hard which is not so common either for Kiita. I'm sure you're correct about the colour being independent of quarries but just because a Suita is yellow doesn't automatically put it into the finishing category which I think is what the OP was after. Buyer just needs to beware what they are getting.

I also feel there is misconception that kiita is a finishing stone for razors, while it is true in some cases, most often than not asagi provide harder stones and better fineshers.

I've only had one diamond plate, and lapping a new norton 1/4k took the edge off it real quick However, i prefer the 600 grit side of that DMT, and that doesn't require anything to take the edge off, really. It's interesting about fast cutting finishers. I'm going to have to take alex's word for it when I decide on a stone.
