    ezpz makes sense in that the only area that would come in contact would be the points where the bevel meets the grind, not the edge where the two sides of the bevel come together. Basically you would just round off your bevel not the actual cutting edge.

    Funny. I saw the title of this thread and immediately thought "huh, a slab of marble might make a damn fine finishing hone--I wounder what the grit of a flat slab of marble would be?"

    Instead, i got a load of phalli, balls and charlatans.

    This shape will actually burnish the edge to some degree giving you a pseudo sharpening effect.

    I doubt as already mentioned you would benifit even the most mediocre hone job with one of these gismos.

    ive seen barber hones in yellow/black, grey, and brown as well.

    There's really no way around it. It takes a flat surface with some sort of abrasive material to bring out a good edge.
