Thread: Here is my hone setup.

Not everyone Bloodhoundman. I sold mine. :P But I'm sure in the right hands, it's a great stone. Mine just weren't the right hands I guess.

I agree with the norton 4k/8k and actually you can set a bevel on the 4k its just takes a little longer witch is not always a bad thing when your new to honing!!!!!!!

I recently got my first stones,,, A Norton 220/1k and a Norton 4k/8K along with a DMT325 to lap them flat and I have a barbers hone coming in the mail (for touch ups)

As of now, this is all I need as I really have only the very slightest clue what I am doing, but it's a good setup to learn on as the 4/8 seems to be a very versatile stone from what I am reading

Do I want a set of Shapton glass stones? Hell yeah, would it be a complete waste of money for me? Hell yeah... Putting a stradivarius in the hands of someone who has never played a Violin before will not make them a better player, Learn on the inexpensive stones THEN invest in the good stuff....
