Thread: Honing questions

Hello gents, I figured I would ask honing experts about honing I'm completely new to it and I was wanting some opinions On these stone ad would they be great for a beginner. Norton 4000/8000Norton Lapping Stone
Chinese 12K Finishing Stone
DMT Diamond Sharpening Card. Would these be acceptable for a beginner and if not any opinions would be great

Sounds fine; I would get the DMT 325 "plate" instead of the card & maybe pick up a 1000 for bevel work. JMO

Drop the Norton lapping stone, and get a DMT D8C for lapping. DMT "Sharpening Card" sounds like something pocket sized for making slurry, you need the full sized one The Norton 4/8k is excellent by itself, don't use the "C12K" until you can shave off the Norton comfortably.

Also agree that you shouldn't move on to the c12 until you can shave of the 8k.

Well it's eBay thing so it comes as a set

I found it on eBay, now it's a killer deal at that price, hit BIN before someone else does it!

But add a DMT D8C later one, it's a must have piece.
