    Post some pics when you receive them. They may be knife hones, but there's also a chance they could be barber hones too

    With small hones you can place them on a flat surface (table, countertop), but most of us prefer to hold them in our hands. Safest method is open palmed, fingers extended, controlled strokes.

    thanks guys, i'll give it a while before i do anything drastic I'm going to take your advice, no honing until i can shave properly, no nicks and cuts!
    And i'm very new to all of this, just realised that i may be rushing ahead
