Default Sulfur in natural stone, does it affect performance.

My friend has a natural stone that contains a bit
of sulfur he says. I could smell it a bit. Does sulfur
    affect performance?

    Thanks

Sulfur is very very soft. If the stone has it you will know it as you hone.

I think he was referring to iron sulfide (pyrite). The worst kind of inclusion. Sulfur has a faint smell, if the stone does smell sulfur it means it has a high content of it. And, it is really soft. If I remember correctly, it dissolves in carbon disulphide. An easy to find liquid. Your friend can give it a try.

If it's pyrite it's usually relatively hard but brittle but should not give off any sulfur smell.
