    Default Hone ID...

I picked this up with an old set on ebay. I've been unable to find anything about it through the typical google search, but hope that I can learn a little more here! It seems almost like a ceramic, and is very fine.

It looks like a barber hone, Check the wiki for more info. Fine but slow. (It's been too long since i have bought a hone, and the PHIG is kicking in. I need to buy one of those! :P)

I think what you own is a fairly basic generic razor hone. Probably works great, looks like it could use some scrubbing and a quick ride on some #1000 wet/dry sandpaper, but it doesn't seem likely that any real history is going to pop up. A lot of items like this were probably given away by barber supply salesmen, given away or sold by barbers, sold in the hardware store or drugstore... they didn't have the cachet that we give them now. They were just a simple tool.
Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.
