Use aluminium oxide polishing powder of floatglass.

My Naniwa SS 400 is what I use to take surface scratches off after lapping w/ diamonds. I don't know why, but it seems to be more the softness of the stone than the grit that makes a difference.
Because the SS is so soft, I'd never use it for all the lapping work - just taking out the scratches after the stone is flat.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

You should never use DMT fine for lapping, not my opinion, DMT's, you will trash it
The same applies to the DMT 8C! DMT recommends the XXC for lapping purpose.
For lapping the usual waterstones like Naniwa and Shapton the DMT8C is may "flattener" and the DMT8F will leave a mirror surface on the stone.
But I wouldn´t recommend it for natural stones as they can be a bit too hard for the DMT Fine

Thanks for all the advice. Took out all the scratches and left an almost shiny surface with Norton 4k. it didnt take that long either (maybe 20 minutes). as I mentioned it had scratches on it not carvings.

In the future, I'd just leave the scratches. The surface of the stone touches the razor, the scratches don't. The surface will wear and still leave a smooth edge on the razor, despite the cosmetic scratches.
