Yep that's a CF. Odd shaped but should work, congrats.

It is interesting how it was mounted, but I agree that it's a CF. Great finishers, slow, but quite nice. Nice thing about a CF with oil is that I really don't think there is a possibility of overhoning. To date, I have yet to overhone a razor (i have tried and got bored) on a natural stone with oil...

Most Charnleys are odd shaped, but this one is even odd for a Charnley.

Btw to get it off the wood put it in your oven and set it at 150°C. Usually after 10+mins the glue starts melting. A newspaper under the CF will keep the mess to a minimum. Once the stone is out immediately scrape off the glue before it gets hard again.

The only odd thing on this one is that it looks to be made sideways and the box is partialy broken off.

Thanks guys i have been trying for one of these stones for ages finally lucked out on this one .It is an odd shape but it works beautifully both the sides are broken off the box exposing the setting, looks very old someone took the time to put it in the setting so they must have thought it was good enough to use.I am going to leave it in the setting because of its shape i would just have to put it in another one if i got it out.I am very happy with this stone the way it is so im going to use it just like this, but thanks for the idea of how to get stones out of settings i might use it on another stone later on.
