Thanked: 0Flat stones
I continue to read about the lapping stones/plates on the forums. What are a couple Brands or grits I should be on the look out for? At the moment I only have a 1k and a Norton 4k/8k?
Thanks,
Matt

mainly the lapping stones are the norton lapping stone and dmt "c" 325 grit plate. shaptons and other systems might work better with their on lapping plates.
i think the dmt is the better choice... when i used to have nortons i used them and the lapping stone enough, probably incorrectly, that the lapping stone stopped being flat as had to be lapped on my dmt.
on a budget you can get very acceptable results with wet sandpaper on a flat granite or marble tile.Last edited by syslight; 03-01-2012 at 05:20 PM.

+1 on syslight suggestion.
Also on a budget you can use wet sandpaper and a piece of 1/4"x12"x12" plate glass, mine was $6.00 with beveled edges at the local glass shop."If You Knew Half of What I Forgot You Would Be An Idiot" - by DoughBoy68
