    Oh yeah, the seller says it's greasy to the touch. But not sure if that's because it's an oilstone or storage issue.

    Hi Gnoils;

    When purchasing natural stones, you take chances. These pictures do not confirm anything other than it looks dirty and needs to be lapped flat and cleaned. The last picture may show saw cuts, I can not tell. Only by testing the stone will you know how it performs. Good luck

    My guess is that's a washita, especially since it has a oily feel. But that's just a guess.

    You really dont want to start posting pictures and questions about ungoing auction on here, you should ask questions
    about a desirable purchase via pm. Not my rule by the way............

    matt789. Thanks for your guess. Much obliged.

    Mod, please remove if against any rules.

    Martin103, I posted here because I really don't know who I can pm for opinion on the hone. All I wanted is any kind of info on it, guesses or not. I took the care to not post any links. Do let me know if you know who to pm and if they won't mind me knocking on their inbox.

    Cheers.

    I don't think there is actually a rule about posting pics and links of live auctions in the forum. It's more that some people get kind of upset when someone posts to an auction they are bidding on because exposure often leads to the bids climbing higher.

    The auction has ended. To me it looks like a coticule possibly used with oil in need of backing.
