Thread: Mmm, gonna to try with a little help from my friends

Picked up this paddle today, on one side it got leather as expected, but on the other, and what made it interesting, it got a hone glued to it.

Not the best shots, but I've tried to catch it dry, wet and with slurry.

Any information will be highly appreciated

I've seen thin slices of Schwedensteins and Thuringians glued to paddles with leather at the back. Because the texture looks pretty homogeneous I would expect it to be a Thuringian. If it is it should feel similar to the one you have.

I've just cleaned and carefully lapped it, and it looks a lot like the Thuri I have.

I have not tried to hone on it yet but from what I see so far it seems to be pretty similar.
