Thanked: 194NOS Albright Barber Hone
hey all,
Just thought i'd share my new little hone. It is brand new in the box and was purchased off of the bay. It was owned by a John H Albright (barber) who ran a barbershop in Hanover, PA. I was not able to obtain much more info but I am guessing he had these hones made for him and had quite a few on hand. this one went to auction along with many of the other items from the shop. I scored this at such a great price and am very very happy with it. From the box to the wrapping, instructions and stone it is all Mint! I am not sure yet whether I will put it to use or keep it for my collection of shaving gear. It is very hard and soft. Most barber hones I have used tend to make me believe they are between 4k-6k. It would not surprise me at all if this was in the 8-10k range. anyways, just wanted to share this little rock with all of you

Sad. I would use it for it's intended purpose. While it looks as-new and likely a fine hone, years of proper use will not change it's appearance. After all, it is not a Holy Grail or something. It's a hone. Guys pay hundreds and thousands of dollars for hones and use them. JMHO

Thanked: 194Yeah but i paid for it and its not sad for me. Its my choice. No offense but i only posted it just to share what i got. I like to keep certain things the way they are. Although its purpose is to be used i would rather keep it mint. Its not everyday u find them like this. I have other stones that can do the job just fine

No offence either way! Indeed it is yours to use as you see fit! I just never got the HAD thing, personally, Unless of course, they all get used! Enjoy!
