Your idea of "a bit more" apparently is much, much different from mine. $200+ isn't "a bit more," That's more like "Go buy a full naniwa progression" money.

No, that's not correct at all.
with a bit more, I'm talking about say a 40*150mm stone of good thickness.
Those can be had in the 60's or 70's.
And in Select grade too.

That's pretty narrow...Not sure I want something that narrow, I'm trying to learn one stone hone on a coti, and I'n not sure a stone that small would be worth it.

My coti is only slightly larger at about 45mm x 170mm. It works just fine, you just have to adjust your strokes. And I often find it forces you to concentrate more on getting that x stroke down.

If you have a coticule/coticules and this isn't 1mm uniformly all the way .... IOW it is thick on each end, it might be worth buying for the price, to make slurry stones out of it. If it is 1mm all the way .... I'd pass. I agree with Birnando's suggestion too, if you don't already have a coti.
