Thanked: 66latest finds
My dad picked this up for me at a flea market. 1x2x7. its next to my norton 4k8k. it is definetly not a norton water stone, but it is also definetly not a translucent...
any clue what it is? i dont think its a washita, it is solid white without the inclusins that washita normally have.... not near as glassy, but very fine grit none the less..... google could not find one similiar. sorry the photos suck...
also it is stained, that discolortion should come out, after honeing. and soaking in something.. not sure what...?
also these below were from a different flea market. there was a box of about 30-40 of these. they appear to me to be culls from one of the arkansas mines. of the 20-30 in the box i picked up a couple of each different type, and all of the blue/black slate style..they are all natural stones.... the guy said he got them free from a friend in Arkanasas. he was selling them for .50 each. i probably should have picked up the entire box....and resold them..... . oh well..
i already own several arkansas stones(surgical black, washita, and tranlucent) and these are all slightly different than the store bought versions, and none were perfect.. many in the box had broken corners, not as in 'dropped'. broke, but more like an end piece in the sawing process.....
i really like the two tone one. i thought that was unusual, you wont find one like that in a store....
