Stone Id
I bought a stone at a flea market yesterday and I could use some help identifying it. Sorry for the bad pics the only camera I have is an old digital. The stone is light green with a pattern and is very smooth it is about 2 1/2 x 6 and an inch thick. It seemed hard but when I sanded the surface a little with 600 grit it was chalky. Slury is same color as the stone. Any idea what grit it would be? Seems like maybe ten K. Thanks for any help you can give me. It is lighter than the pics show.

I will get some more pics but when the stone is wet it looks the same and the sides are coated with something and dirty looking. I will have to clean it on sandpaper.

My first thought was the fine Spanish pedras da meigas, it matches the description and the photos, but I doubt you can find one on flea market. After that, a Japanese, or a natural stone from there.

I can't believe with all the experts we have here, no one can identify this hone. I have looked at a lot of hone pics and it looks more like an Okuzu than any of the other pics I have seen

Thanked: 247Sometimes it takes a few days for everyone to get around to looking at it. If I remember right there are about 6 more people to weigh in before you can start to be bewildered that nobody knows what it is. I'll throw my vote towards LI or CF. Keep in mind I've never owned either stone, but it seems a fair impression of them to me in pics.

There are millions of different natural hones on earth. I don't think it's a Charnley forest, nor a Llyn Idwal. I don't think it looks like a novaculite stone. We have experts from UK here, sooner or later they will see the stone and tell you.
It could be a Cuttlers green. I haven't heard about this "mystery" stone the last weeks and I kind of miss it.
