    Default Help with a stone

I have an old stone from my grandfather, looks like it was always used with oil. Having trouble identifying it and would like suggestions on best way to clean it up?

Has two different grit and I can't only make out a few words on the side.

"A product of -------" last word has um at the end.
Below that "No 108?" then some other writing I can't make out.

A product of the carborundum company.
It's a synthetic carbo stone. I think most would say, not for razors. HTH.

Spray it with oven cleaner and let it sit for a few hours, then wash off the oven cleaner with warm water. Good as new.

    Thanks!

Makes sense as my Grandfather and father used it for chisels and knives. That would be my use as well, just never knew what it was
