Default Need help flattening a norton flattening stone

Anyone know how to do this? I was flattening a much smaller hone and realied the Norton flattening stone started to develop pretty hefty unlevel spots. Any ideas would be appreciated. Or is it a total loss?

Wet/dry sand paper on a flat surface. Soak lapping stone 10 to 15 min, wet surface place sand paper, wet sand paper, draw a grid in pencil on lapping stone, lap it on the sand paper

I just tried using 240 grit sandpaper on a marble table top (flattest thing I have) and it seems to be taking from the center of the flattening stone but both ends are not yet being touched. Can I move up to a coarser sandpaper? It seems like at this rate 240 will take forever. Rather unsettling to see how unflat and new flattening stone is.

Yeah you can go down to a lower grit just once you get it flat go back up to 240 for a little bit
