    Default Hone ID assistance Please?

Picked this small gray hone up at an estate sale for $1. It measures 2x4x3/4". Probably needs additional lapping. Believe it could be a natural finishing stone. Based on my initial research my best guess is that it could be Thuringian finishing stone ~12K? Appreciate anyone's best shot at this. Pictures are front then back. Thanks

Lap at least one side flat, so we will have more info. Judging from these pics it is possible that its a thuri, but the stone is too dirty to tell. The corners are broken off, and it looks pretty scratched up, so it should be something soft.

Default Hone ID Please, Thuringian finishing stone?

Here are a few more pics. I lapped the surface and aside to see it better. Tried to get a shot of the chip, sides, and what it looks like with some water on it. Did some fine tuning on a few of my razors as well. It puts a nice edge on them rather quickly. Hope this helps. Excuse my photography.

My guess would be a carbo barbers hone. Especially if it is a very fast cutter.

It has no model number or sign of any sticker normally associated with carbos. It is not a fast cutter but sure puts a nice finishing edge after using my natural Belgium coticule. I found them together at an estate sale several months ago. It is a greenish grey in color that doesn't show up too well in the pictures.

Sorry I was confused with another post. The chip in the corner looks to be a natural stone. I'm not sure what it is. If it works great after your coticule then who cares what it is and keep on doing what you are doing.

So which is it? Fast or not fast? Doing something quickly seems fast to me. Sorry I got no clue what it is. It looks to me like it either has oil still on the surface of the stone(and sides), or a lot of metal. There's nothing about the pictures that make me even consider thuringian. The edges are chamfered, so I guess somebody might have been using it for razors. But I got nothing beyond that. So long as it works as you wish it to. That's the more important thing.
