Raise your hand if you ever......
Raise your hand if you were able to get a nice edge on a Classic Shaving " Filarmonica 13. This is the razor that Classic Shaving sold years ago and it has no markings on the shank and it says Filarmonica Doble Temple on the blade in a faint etch. I have owned this razor for over a year and just made my 3rd attempt at getting it shave ready with no luck. I can keep my other 35 razors sharp with the Choresa 1k and 1,5,8,12 naniwa (sp). The bevel looks good throug my new widget 30x loupe. What is the secret to getting and edge on this freaking razor ???? Thanks

I have a #13 and #14 and they are two of the easiest honers I have - and I'm by no means as experienced a honer as you appear to be. Back to basics I would suggest and if it cuts hair off the 1k you should check the rest as you go along.

I've never had one of those but I remember when classic was carrying those some members posted that they were harder to hone than the vintage fillys.

I have one and as I recall it took a bit longer to hone up however it's a great shaver. I don't remember what I used to originally hone it however at that time about the only hones I had were the Norton 4/8K and a Kitayama and I think I had just gotten the Coticule so that's what I used.
Keep in mind those were the last production razors the outfit made and basically the sold off their remaining stock and the degree of honing they got from the factory wasn't exactly consistent. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I had a 14 of the same production, it took a little more work than others, but took a nice edge honed on Naniwa SS 1-3-8-12K
