Is this A Super Rare Stone
I got this from a seller who said
i perty sure this clear grade oil was mined in england.
What would be the rarity level to this stone.
Cause it much different then my vintage clear arkansas stones.
I use for my razors.
Is soft enough to take well to water.

At the risk of being (shudder) wrong, it looks like an arkansas translucent to me.

Thanked: 109+1 it is an ARkie and I have never been wrong! Well once I thought I made a mistake but I was mistaken.
YMMV

Thanked: 202Seller could be right. Do you have moreinformation about the stone, size, how hard to lap with comparison to translucent arkie, etc.

At the chance of sounding facetious, as this is a Natural stone I can say with absolute certainty that it is the only one exactly like it in the entire world,, There might be a few mined and cut from right next to it that are close be that is a unique example
I also lean toward a Novaculite of some type

it looks like the Translucent Arkansas stone in this photo, on the far right. it IS a translucent but has inclusions, I think they are pretty. the inclusions are a different grit, for a knife it doesn't matter so much, as that stone in the photo sharpens knives real well. I have a good number of translucents with inclusions that look similar to yours, some are also yellowish like yours.

Thanked: 458Novaculite also. Darkness may be due to the oil that's been used on it, and it may be due to the natural color of the stone.
Confusing that you say it's soft enough, can you scratch the side of it with a fingernail? Translucent arkansas stones (regardless of color) are notoriously hard.
