Default It's been my week for Coti's

Dad went to the flea market in The city this weekend, he usually picks up any stones for me if they are a few dollars. Over the phone he said he got a two tone stone that looked glued together,

Then I finally got to see it today after visiting him. It' 2.5 x 7 and looks and feels like a coti with slate back. Its more white than yellow though. I feel liked won the lottery this week. I have had much better luck at the flea markets than all the antique store. Been searching hard and heavy at the antique malls and have not found crap. Flea markets for the WIN...

Whatever it is I like it. It's super fine.

Updated photos after getting home and laping.

This is in comparison to my other two Coti's

    Slurry using my DMT mini

Looks like slate to me. Lapps like slate and smells like slate.

This one has some red 'lines / dots' in it. None of the other Coti's have that, so ??

    The end.

    7 inches of pure joy.

I use to have this kind of stone, it is not a coticule, is man made, when you wet is is smell like cement. When you lap it is like glued to the DMT, but it is a very fast cutting and very fine. I may be wrong, but the chips on the stone look like my stone.

When I get home I will lap it and let you know. It looks whitish/yellow. But I guess the color could change after lapping I will post photos later. It is definetly very very fine,

    Updated photos in first post.

It's definetly no Ark'y I have hundreds of arky's in all types and styles. The backing is slate I am sure of that., and other than some red lines/dot's this is identicle to my other Coti's . It does seem harder than the spotted one, but about the same as the one on the left. Smells like my other coti when creating a slurry. Slurry is very easy to create. The slate backing is very very easy to create.

I certainly do want opinions though...

It smells like the one on the left exactly, the spotted one has a more mello smell to me, but very similar to it. They all more or less smell the same, I had my daughter smell all three also, she said the same thing.

I am reading up on the different layers, it appears only a few have red striations, of course with this being purchased at a flea market there is no way of knowing the age, which sucks, it would be cool to have some clue..

If anyone wants to take a lucky shot at the layer, I will read up and google and see if I can pin point it. The closet I can see is La Dressante. But yeah I understand this is next to impossible to know.

Also it tastes like a coti. Lol. My son just pointed out I had white powder on the tip of my nose. I think I have a problem. My HAD is getting real bad,,

The stone very much resembles coti. I had one coti with this type of spots, it was used with oil for many years, and it took me a lot of time to clean it.

That's a coticule...I'm 100% sure about that (but that's of course my opinion)
    Nice one!
