Thanked: 2027Wifelette Bought me a hone:))
She haunts garage sales,so hey,she is instructed as to things to look for
Today she brings home A carborundum 107,not a razor hone but for 50 cents, what the heck.
Actually have never seen a round Hone.

Yes,,, axes, machetes, great for putting in a backpack for the woods. My grandfather kept one on the dash of his truck. he honed the edges of his field knives before work each day.
For .50 cents it's a heck of a buy.
Thanks for sharing it.

Stabilize the blade or axe head, then use the stone (puck) in your hand , doing circular polishing motions down each side. Some use straight strokes down each side. A container of water close by, to flush the metal from the stone as you work it. Some use a spray bottle of WD-40 or even Simple Green will flush the metal out. In the field you could hone it next to a stream or pond. Then lube.
Just my thoughts.

Swinging the axe is the dangerous part for me; I've been nicked by my razors , but not my axes or machetes.
