Skin Oils On Stones
I was messing around with my Coticule and PHIG stones and after wiping them off with my hand I noticed the water would bead up like if there was oil on it. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that from the oils on the hands. I didn't think my hands were that oily. Has anyone noticed a change in sharpening afterwards? The oils seem to wash off after awhile so not really a problem was just curious if there was a up or downside to sharpening capabilities.

Sorry I couldn't resist, talk about two people with a case of YMMV
Just wash the stone off you should be fine, I am one of those people that doesn't rub the stone, in fact when I give a demonstration or a seminar it makes me cringe a bit when people are all rubbing the surface on the stones with their hands...Last edited by gssixgun; 08-27-2012 at 02:09 PM.

I usually do to get the dust off cause I can feel it when honing. I usually wash my hands more than most unless they are in the food or medical industries that is why it was rather weird seeing it do that.
