    I do have one similar to this one. I call it Hindostan but Neil Miller would not agree. There supposedly are few areas in N. America which stones of similar appearance come from. Perhaps the main difference is on which side did you try to hone? Was is on the layer marked side or non marked?

    I tried to hone on the layered face. It came in a wooden box with the layered side up so I thought that should be my first port of call.

    I had one like that. Don't ask why somebody used it that way as I do not know.
