    Default First Belgian Coticule!!

    Hello all

Today I had the pleasure to meet the Coticule mine owner Maurice Celis at his home and there I bought my first coticule. Was very nice to find out he only lives about a 15 min car drive away from my home.

I decided to start with a small one to save me some money since I'm just starting out this hobby.

He really is very friendly and gave some good info and a great deal on the coticule.

Nice looking coti. And it looks like you also got a very generously sized bout to go with it for raising a slurry. Enjoy!

Yes indeed but the picture makes it look a bit larger. The coticule is 3.9 inch in lenght and 1.5 inch in width. (100x40mm) and the bout is 1.5 inch at the widest point and 0.6 at the tip with a length of 2.3 inch. Will test them out soon.

    Heljen, its handsome.

Cotis didn't come easily for me, but do come more easily to others. If Gary's post above is not a familiar name to you, I'd suggest taking note of his posts. 'Barber, coticule conniseour. 'Hard to get better perspectives. I look forward to each of his posts - they've helped me alot.

There are a lot of different cotis out there and some are better than others, but I can honestly say I have never seen a bad one. Learn the stone and the steel and it will be a joy!

Gary is a common sewer of coticules .... I mean connoisseur ..... < BG > When he says he was in the mine for the weekend ..... he was found on Monday morning when they went to work..... sleeping on a bed of natural coticule ROFLMAO Nice stone you have there. I envy your close proximity to the mine. Kind of glad I don't live there...... I'd be flat broke in no time..... (smile)

You could get a job in quality control and maybe even get paid!

Thank you all for the nice reply's. The mine itself is about an hour and a half drive from here but the owners house is close. Very lovely home. Think he took lots of stones back to his place because the table was full of packages like mine. . Lucky guy

You are very lucky to be so close to Maurice and Ardennes coticule.
Now if you visited some trappist monks who made beer then Id REALLY be jealous!

Let us know how you like the stone.
