Well there is one thing we all do the same and that's put a razor to our face and cut the hairs.
I seriously spent about 30 seconds thinking about how I would prep the stone for honing. I did it, it worked. Today I used the stone again. Sure enough, it drank a bit of water so I ran the tap until it stopped.
Most important was the result of my honing. The Joseph Rodgers I mentioned in the original post gave me a great three pass shave today. Then this afternoon, I set another bevel using the chosera. This was a Stainless Dovo MOP that I have had for a long time. I had to correct a funky, wavy, double bevel. It took a while, and I really got to use the stone fully. I basically confirmed my first impressions of the chosera.

Thank you for your post. It has made me stop and think and realize the truth in what you say. Knowing me, IF there were an "established method" for any aspect of SR shaving, I would be the kind of person trying different methods to find something better. Indeed, variety is the spice of life and one size does not fit all. I will be trying various hones and methods of honing as described on this forum and find the ways that fit best for me.
May you and yours have a pleasant Thanksgiving.
Randy
P.S. You can bet the farm that if I get the opportunity, I will take you up on your offer to visit you. It would be like a kid in a candy store being able to obtain lessons from you. When circumstances permit, I will PM you for a date and time to visit. Thank you for your generous offer.“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” Ben Franklin

if money is a problem try the 1k superstone It is just as good IMO and a lot cheaper. I have both and really can't tell te difference except the chosera might be a little faster.
