Can anyone please help with the identification of the stone above The stone belonged to my late father and has been in the family for 50 years
The black mark on the stone is a stain
Further I live in the United Kingdom

Hindostan. Do a search, you should be able to find plenty of info on them.

Might be wrong but i think that is the tombstone hone stuff.
From the good old usa. They mined it all up somelong time ago.
i could be wrong on the id though.

I have one too. Some are ok for pre-polishing, some aren't. Mine is better for knives, actually really good for a final stone on good steel knives.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.
