Well written ZIB and it makes total sense. I think there are a few guys out there that you can trust. One is a member here and he tests all the stones prior to selling them. I made it out without spending $1500 as you suggested in that post but did also see stones in that price range.
You really hit the nail on the head when it comes to the reasons for purchasing a stone. Big advantage is the availability of these stones compared to vintage escher/thuris or coticules in this size.
