    Nope, no harm.
I use it for that on all kinds of stones, natural and synthetic.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

The only stones that will hurt it are stones that are coarse hard stones, or very coarse stones that you shouldn't use with a razor, anyway.

Again, thank you for helping a new member get lined out properly. I have another question:
Where can I get a couple of inexpensive or fairly useless razors to practice honing on? I certainly do not want to touch my new Boker and Dovo SRs to a stone at this point. When checking ebay, I usually see either old vintage razors that eventually sell for $50-85. and then some cheapies that look like Chinese imitation razors that would just fall apart.
I can not figure out why I can not post a WTB on classifieds. Must not have enough posts yet.

You don't have enough posts and enough time on the forum yet.

Here's what I do when I want a cheap razor, I hope I don't give away too much (well, what do I care, I have enough razors).

Set up a search on ebay to have it feed you auctions in order of:
    * buy it now only, most recently listed
    * specify a price limit of like $0-$30 or something

Then over the course of a couple of days, you'll be able to get some decent looking vintage razors. I've gotten good razors as cheap as $10, but I've gotten deals on other higher dollar razors that would never make it long on ebay. Get the good deals when they're listed, and ignore the bidding wars.

Examples of razors I'd consider not too bad to fiddle with:
    121037857114
    321039971204
    181042995573

No affiliation with any of those auctions, but I'd be almost sure every one of those razors could be a good shaver in the end, even after you beat it on stones for a little while.

A bit thin, and with wonked scales, but you won't get much cheaper:
