Thanked: 0Newbie needs advice
Hello all,
I just bought this Straight razor in an antique store and paid $ 10.00 for it.
I' completely new to straight razor and i need some suggestions in regard to it.
This straight razor needs work because is not sharp and I cannot shave it with it.
My question is: is it worth it to have someone hone it? Is this a decent straight razor for a beginner?
I'm located in California and if it is worth it to have someone hone it for me do you guys know of anyone able to do it?
Please advise.
Thank you in advance.

Looks like it will make a good shaver. Send it out to get honed. You can find several members to hone it up in our classifies under member services.

Check the SRP classifieds there are plenty of us there who can take care of your razor.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

If you would like to send it to NY, I'll do it. PM me if you're interested, and I WILL make it shave ready. All I ask is you pay for shipping. Up to you.

Hello and welcome to straight shaver shaving.:-)
I've honed a couple of these razors myself. They shave ok. The ones I restored was polished first, and even the cuttings in the scales can be polished away.
I personally think that razors with rounded ends on the blades are easier to lean the shaving technics with, while the ones with a 90 degree angle are for more experienced shavers.
I think you will be happy with it, when you learn to technics ;-)
