Thanked: 4249[QUOTE=RogueRazor;1077701]My escher is about the same size ( and color) as yours. I use both X strokes and circles on it. It's no problem once you get used to it [QUOTE]
Your Escher looks like a 7X2 doubleO is 5X1.

Thanked: 11Nice Escher RougueRazor! That's as good of an Escher as I've tried and I've had a few. I guess your still happy with it. As for the small 5x1 size thuringians, I too use a heal first swooping style x-stroke covering the entire length of the blade in one stoke. I Begin each stroke with the blade at about a 45 degree angle, which puts the heal first and allows for more blade to be in contact with the stone during the first part of the stroke and also requires less hand movement due to swooping technique. I find it easier to be consistent that way. However, I do use other methods a good bit too depending on the blade. Practice is the key, see which method works best for you, don't be set on what others say is best.

Thanked: 480I had my eye on that Honzerhootinany stone. But I also had an eye on my wallet, and it was giving me a dirty look.

My latest HAD!
Finally got a great shave out of a Torry finished on the Honhensollern. Very smooth and sharp. Different from the Zulu, like them both. This stone is a little over 11/2", a little easier than the 1" wide stones, and I can work with 5" long, makes for shorter, more precise strokes. However, give me an 8X3 any day! Great stone and happy with it for the price. Double O
