    Just to throw another thought out there. People do still use oil stones for honing straights and get excellent results. So as long as you have the stones in the right grits ( ie 1k, 4k, 8k) your stones should be fine. Your money might be better spent on a finishing stone.

    Lots of good advice...the only thing I would add is if you go the DMT route, the 325 will cure whatever ails ya...no need for a 120. Good luck!
