    Default Naniwa 1k

Well I decided I wanted to try a different 1k other than my Norton so I ordered a Naniwa 1k which came today. As soon as I had it out of the box I had to take a razor to it and do some laps. Don't get me wrong the Norton did everything I needed it to, but I guess I got bored with it. I am quite pleased with the Naniwa so far. The only bad thing is I ran out of washers so I only have 2 razors that I can test on it till I get more. I love the feel of it when honing. The only way I can describe the two when comparing them is the Naniwa is like running your hand through fine beach sand where as the Norton is like running your hand through gravel. They both do the job they are intended to, but I like the feel of the Naniwa so far. Wish I would have gotten one sooner. Seems to be faster than the Norton so far, but like I said only have 2 razors for now to test on it. It does feel alot softer than it really is when honing. Just wanted to share my opinion of it so far since for some reason I feel I am going to "Have" to buy more stones to try out now. Hopefully not till far in the future.

I like my Naniwa 1k too. Out of the 3 1k's I've tried (Norton, King, Naniwa), I'd say the Nani has the "smoothest" feel to it.

My King 1k works awesome, but it has a much more "abrasive" feel to it. The Naniwa is still fast, but it almost feel like a higher grit stone than it is...

+1 to the naniwa ss it does give a nice edge, and moderately quick (not as fast as the chocera), I do enjoy mine even though I do want a chocera for harder steels. As far as your standar 01, A2, 1095 steels the naniwa ss works great. Glad you liked it!
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I just posted a thread on if I should get a Chosera cause I think my Naniwa 1k is too slow. Don't get me wrong, I like my Naniwa 1k. It feels smooth and I really like the feedback I get from it.

I am betting that you would very much like a Chosera 1k. It's looking like I might live long enough to wear mine out and I will be needing a second one.

I like my Chosera 1k so much that if I had to choose between getting rid of the Chos 1k or getting rid of my prized pick & shovel collection, the picks & shovels would be going down the road before the sun came up tomorrow.

    Get one.............. JERRY
