    Default 825 Frictionite

Does anyone here know the difference between the 825 Frictionite and the 00 frictionite? Besides the numbers and the size how do they compare in honing and quality, are they both made of the same material? thanks for any help and info.

Wow, I suppose these 825 frictionite hones must be pretty rare. I have one on the way, when I receive and use it I will let everyone know the legendary Frictionite hone performance of this particular hone. They are said to be(825 hone) bigger than the 00 frictionite but made of the same material American Hone made way back! Thanks

Same as the fine side of the #00. Unlike most razor hones, they don't punish you if you hone all the way to the edge of the razor and then shave straight off the stone. A reasonably sharp and very comfortable edge.

Thank you very much Dave for your good and knowledgeable answer, I was getting worried nobody here knew anything of these 825 hones. I took a gamble and purchased one on the bay not really knowing for sure of it's qualities, the size is listed as 8 x 2.5 x 1 ,,

They're closer to 3/4ths thick or so, but it doesn't matter, you'll never challenge their thickness just touching up your razors.

I use mine with clear water, you can use it dry, of course. It just feels like the nicest honing feeling you've ever felt on any stone if you use clear water. It's pretty fast for its fineness, too, the nicest of the razor hone types that I've used.

Someone gave me a pair (821 and 825) to sell, and I listed them on ebay. They didn't sell after a month, so I kept them and just paid the prior owner for them. A couple of buyers popped up after the listing ended, but I decided to keep them anyway.

Recieved the hone in today and used it on two of my razors and it performed great! I do recommend this hone for anyone wanting the ultimate razor finisher.
