Thanked: 4Just won this one!
I think I did good. Now I need to get up the nerve to lap and chamfer it.

That is a very interesting stone to me. First of all it is thicker than eschers in that length/width usually are. The thing that really sets it apart for me it the end label. Usually it would be yellow.green, light green or blue green. I've never seen an end label with grun (green) alone. So that is very cool.
I always paint the end label with 'Hard As Nails' which is a clear nail polish but tougher than the regular. I spray the back labels with Krylon Preserve It . It is for protecting documents. So far this has worked well for me on the labeled stones.
Hope it turns out to be a super finisher for you.

Thanked: 4I haven't got it yet, but will send pics as soon as I get it. I am glad you told me how to preserve the documentation, I will buy some so I can preserve it before I use it, And yes, it is very thick, I noticed that as well. Now, any tips on how to lap it correctly. I have a DMT 325.
Now I also have a DMT extra fine, 10x4 Belgium Blue, an 8x2 Coticule, and now of course the Escher. I had a little "aha" moment tonight after spending hours on my belguim blue and then my coticule, got the razor sharp, but took forever. I decided to finally break down and try putting my next razor on my DMT Extra Fine, 80 strokes, saw a bevel, 80 on the blue 80 on the coticule, sharpest razor I ever sharpened. I will save shaving with them till I lap the Escher.

Thanked: 480I prefer radiused edges to chamfer, and start the lapping with the fine plate. If its already flat, why do more work than you need to? Good Luck!
