Thread: I got more rocks

and I need your help. Beside one stone I do not know much about two others. I know that yellow hone is a Rozsutec stone. All hones are presented as:
1.dry
2.wet.
3.slurry.

All stones are soft and slurry was created in short time with few passes on DMT325. Stone one has white slurry when is dry and is super smooth, stone two has pink/brown slurry and is little coarse, and Rozsutec is on one side coarse and other smooth (done on 3000 grit water paper). I have read that this stone can have two side and different. It`s like stone "learn"the grit.

Maybe later I will hone one razor with each stone and try to guess grit but for now I am puzzled.

Interesting, that last one looks a bit like a stone I received from South Africa as a test run but the rocks weren't plentyful enough to continue the search. IIRC it was a pre-polisher in the 6K range, a hard stone.

Hmm doesn't really look like the standard Rozsutec. I think you have to special order them to get them in a non standard size. They're also really hard, not easy to slurry.

in this case yellow stone is not Rozsutec because is not like yours on the picture and is soft like sugar. This stone melts under DMT325. However I have prepared one side on water sandpaper 400 grit, other 1200 grit and they hold this grit. Now I`m even more puzzled. Now I have another 3 hones and no idea what I got. Does grey stone could be some slate, maybe Thuri or similar? It is extra fine grit, very smooth surface.

in fact stone 3 is really pretty but when I will have some more time I will check it honing performance. I will post some microscope pictures fro reference. Also I will try to upload sides pictures of stone#1. BTW why sides/ends pictures?

Here my guess, stone one thuringian, stone two BBW, stone three I don't know, but maybe could be a coticule with blue layer contamination.
