Thanked: 4249It does have a similiar pattern of the Grecian stones, but better pictures ,close up, sides, with slurry might yield better identification.I really dont think its a Charnley.

Yes, it looks like a Grecian. How hard is it? It will still be a Grecian, I'm just asking.

Thanked: 202LLyn Idwall and you can expect the same as from CF. From pics I would say you will need a bit of lapping to do which I expect take a bit of time. Do not rush it or use too much of pressure. Nice stone enjoy.

The stone was originally described at ebay as being a guaranteed Charnley Forest. It said two persons the seller asked assured him they were absolutely sure it was a CF. No refund because of it being the real thing. I felt obligated to inform the seller about it being a Llyn Idwal imo to prevent an ebayer getting disappointed.
LIs can be great and it's a large one so I'm sure you got a good deal.

Thanked: 3Thank you all for your comments. I hope it is a hard example. I'll lapp it and post some good photos for the record.

Thanked: 202If I was you I would not pray for hard example. So far in my experience there is not much difference in performance of LIs in dependence of their hardness. However if I had choice I would rather lap soft one then hard one. Once you try it you will know.

Here is a closer up picture. It wasn't as hard to lapp as I thought it might be. I'm not sure how fine it is yet. I lapped it on a course diamond plate as the stone surface still feels a little rough on my tongue.
