Dmt sticktion
Love my DMT, it is fast and precise, but it seems to really stick to the stone making it hard to do my figure 8's. It sticks so hard it moves the stone in its stand. Is there a trick to alleviate this?

and the water does not need to be running fast just fast enough to keep the hone sludge from building up.
how are you lapping? i usually lap with my dmt in the bottom of the sink and move the stone i'm lapping on top. sometimes i hold both stones in my hands ... when you do this turn one of the stones 180 degrees every 10 figure 8's or so, it helps to even out the pressure.

It does, but it can also damage the DMT. It either pulls the diamonds out of the substrate or rips off the substrate itself. That is the reason DMT's should be used under running water. Other lapping stones, like the Norton one, are helped by letting grit build up, though.
