If you simply want to maintain your razor you may want to look into Chromium Oxide on your strop. Its cheap, and a good way to bring some life back to your edge. Its about 12 bucks for a lifetime supply. You can use the Chromium Oxide to get you through as you save up for the stone you want. Or you can do like I did in college and gather all your friends, each chip in 5 bucks, buy a keg, and throw a party and charge $10 at the door for all they can drink. At the end of the night split up your profits.

Another option is a 2 sided paddle strop and dovo red/black paste. This will keep your blade going for a very long time.

I made a 4 sided paddle strop with scrap wood and an old leather belt. Or you can buy one

You can then later add a 1k stone and you could set bevels and bring a blade to shave ready with some patients or add dovo green also to speed things up more.
