Honing a Diamond Steel Razor
I haven't been able to find anything about this in the forums. Are "diamond steel" razors harder/take longer to hone than a normal carbon steel? I've been going at this razor for about an hour just for a touch up and hasn't gotten any sharper on my la dressante coticule.
Is it just me getting used to the blade or is this typical with a diamond steel?

Start with the sharpie test on the edge to make absolutely sure the edge is contacting the hone. I've wasted a lot of time honing and polishing what turned out to be a secondary bevel on an unfamiliar razor.

What kind of razor is it?
I have a Dovo Diamond Steel. It's a vintage piece and an outstanding shaver. It honed up like any other nothing special.
I imagine the Diamond Steel is just a model name and nothing more.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

It is a Griffon Cutlery Antelope #16. I may have to re-bevel it. I should do the sharpie test as well.. Thanks!
