Thanked: 1Difficult to say, like someone mentioned it may be a dirty coti. Only way to see is to get your hands on it.

Man, I sure hope so. Seller says the color is distinctly yellow, so I'm hoping to get lucky.

Sorry, there's no chance of it being a Coticule IMHO. You're not the first that buys a stone like this by mistake. It's part of the ebay experience. Better luck next time
What could help is study Coticule pictures from this forum, there are loads. You can also pm someone for help before the end of an auction.Last edited by Piet; 03-01-2013 at 07:04 PM.

I am guilty of buying a coticule off ebay that turned out to be a India oilstone...
Thankfully the seller offered to relist it before they sent it.
I think this happens a lot more than most of us care to admit

Meh, I can dump it at the local antiques market (probably for a profit) if it doesn't work out.

I started the lapping and stone color is light brownish yellow and slightly translucent. Color is mostly smooth without much mottling in the lapped areas. It's very hard and taking ages.

This stone kind of reminds me of this: http://straightrazorpalace.com/advan...han-swaty.html
