Default Yet another "Please help me ID this rock"...

    The title says it all.

When I bought it, it was in a wooden box and VERY dished out.

I removed it from the box, and lapped the bottom to make it useable.

I lapped it down with a DMT325 just to get it flat.

Have a look at the pics, and if you have any thoughts please let me know.

    Thanks!

Don't know but I have a "Pike" barber hone that looks just like it only smaller.

Is it porous? It reminds me a bit of a DB without the characteristic pattern.

It's kinda hard to tell what color slurry is in pics. So what would call the color?

Did you soak the stone before lapping? If so did you notice if it released any oil or not?

    How hard was it lap?

It was fairly flat when I started lapping it.

It took about 10 mins on my bench sander with an 80 grit belt.

Then another 10-15 on my DMT 325 to finish it off.

Looks like it has shiny things in it, and it sparked a little bit on the bench sander????

I will now defer all testing to Brooksie....he has my rock now, and knows how to use naturals
a lot better than I do.

I would not be surprised if it is a man made hone.

Wouldn't a man made stone be a more consistant color?
