I did a quick test on it. Made of soft yellow stone with lots of brown freckles. The large brown spot can't be felt. The stone is very fine. Odd to use such a long narrow stone but it's doable.

Very happy with this. Can't wait to really use it and shave off of it.

I have never seen a coticule with brown freckles or spots. That is the nature of natural stones I guess. Your stone appears to have no backing stone, slate or whatever glued to the one side ? They are very fragile and that is why Belgian quarries/vendors have always gone to the added expense of gluing and finishing a slate or BBW slab.

    YOU bought that thing?!?

I have been eyeing that coticule at TSS for a while now but never pulled the trigger on it. Congrats; looks like it'll be a fun stone to use!! Let us know if you need any help with it...

@jimmy, yeah it's a very narrow stone. Its a LONG x stroke! Not the most practical stone but this was a passion purchase.

@jpc, This one was up for a while. It grew on me until last week I realized I had to have it. When that happened I had to move fast, in case there were guys like yourself out there with funny ideas! Let me know if your ever in the NYC area, do I can let you use it.
