Better photo of the kanji, I think it's from 330mate but still... silky smooth, fine grit and no inclusions!
Never tried a small Jnat that could easily be held in hand before, I like it!

Playing around with them right now, some stones, steel and whisky!
Found the purple one to be a little scratchy, the big black one needs a little slurry but then it gives good results.
The 330mate Nakayama is flawless, using it to reset the steel to a nice polish in between the testing.

My guess where AJ stones are from is from slagheap above Bethesda. I will just repeat there is no purple colored rock in the YL quarry and also no any other color of the rock which is called YL (not even original YL/LM hones) apart from a piece of grey slate from the roof tile.

Any neutral gray will allow for software adjustment of white balance. If there's any color hue present in the gray, it can be adjusted out. I've had better luck sampling grays than whites.

Unless you know the material is coming from a slagheap for a fact don't use such a derogatory term. Don't disparage a vendor's mdse. If you want to discuss performance and physical qualities just do it without the negative associations.

I even didn't want to read to much before I'd tried them for my self, I got a pretty good idea want I want from a hone.
They don't seem bad in any way, the more I play around with them the better the results...
More whisky, more slurry... here we go!

Hirlau; I've already got a standing invitation to join the US of A, done tons of work for you guys.
