    Default Small surprises

It don’t need to be always huge stones that make you enjoy your newest hone acquisition.
I recently won an ebay auction with a small box of razor utensils. The seller only show one picture and didn’t explain anything about the thinks in the box. Just sold it as is.

When I opened the box, I found beside a Sheffield razor 4 small honing stones in total. One coticule, a translucent Arkansas in a small self made paddle, another broken piece of Arkansas and a thuringian on a paddle. The thuringian nearly new and in perfect condition 5 x 1 inch, but only ¼ thick. The Arkansas widely used -also the coticule, a natural combo- both approximately 3,5 x ¾ inch large.

As for arkansas stones these size is quite common for sharpening knifes, I have never seen such a lovely small coticule used for razor honing.

Lovely haul. I have a similar small coticule, makes a nice travel hone. What make is the razor? Can't quite make it out.

Nice haul. I'd as the thurry is probably the prize of the pack, though it all looks good. I wouldn't worry about the thinness of the thurry, either, because once lapped, you'll probably never notice a change in its thickness over the course of your life.

Well your stone is a lot bigger. This one is only about a finger long:

The razor is a F. Fenney:

Oh yeah, that is small. Saw one like that in a Brussels antique store which was mounted in a block of wood and from a barbers but the guy wanted €40 if I remember rightly and it was just to high for me (the razors were more interesting).
